Objective To assay the anti-coxsackie virus B3 effects of the different extracts from Spatholobus suberectus Dunn. Methods The anti-coxsackie virus B3 activity of the extracts of Spatholobus suberectus Dunn.was proved by cytopathogenic effect(CPE) method and MTT method.ResultsBy re-extracting with different solvents, the partially separated components from Spatholobus suberectus Dunn.maintaining antiviral activity were obtained. The 50 % cytotoxity concentration(CC50),50 % inhibition concentration(IC50) and therapy index(TI) of the crude water extract and the partially separated components were 725.88 μg/ml,87.17 μg/ml,8.32 and 179.17 μg/ml,9.14 μg/ml,19.60,respectively,measured by MTT method with Ribavirin as the positive control.ConclusionThe assays show that the partially separated components have remarkable anti-Coxsackie virus B3 activity in vitro.
