SHI Zhi-min (Suzhou Vocational College, Suzhou 215009 )
Yuan Mei's poetic concept of "anima" is the theoretical basis of his scenic poems. His poems have rich connotations. The three themes of his scenic poems are mountains and rivers in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, the wonderful views of the Mount Huang, and the beautiful scenery of Guangdong and Guangxi provinces. The artisitic features of his poems are characterized by his passionate scenic descriptions, his stylistic variations, his plain language and the flexible syntactic structures.
