Zhu Jia's Thoughts of Calligraphy Education
CHEN Dao-yi(Suzhou Science and Technology Institute, Suzhou 215009)
Zhu Jia spent all his life in his calligraphy studies and creations. His thoughts of calligraphy education are composed of the theory "mutual complementation and benefit", the theory of "throwing all one's strength into writing" and the theory of "self-cultivation and self-improvement by reading". The first theory requires that a calligraphy learner should learn and make use of all kinds and styles of stone inscriptions as models for practice. The second theory demands that the learner should spend all his physical strength in his writing. The third theory asks him to cultivate his mind and improve his character by reading and practicing calligraphy.
