GE Chun-yuan(School of the Humanities,USTS,Suzhou 215009)
Yu the Great visited many historical sites in the region of Taihu Lake.He left his works in the Linwu Cave, moved the hills inland, consulted with the feudal princes about water control and flood prevention on Mount Yuqi and appointed his assistant a governor of Suzhou.Since the ancient times a multitude of temples have been built in memory of Yu the Great.Judging by those historical sites,we get to know that Yu the Great came to Taihu Lake to prevent floods and control water, and Mout Yuqi is probably Mount Huiji that is located in Suzhou.
