Study on Method and Procedure of Rail Electroslag Welding

This paper analyzed and summarized the application situation,technique characteristics and basic process parameters of rail electroslag welding and welding difficulties.The technical scheme of rail electroslag welding was put forward and completed,welding test was conducted and mechanical properties of joint samples were analyzed.The results show that,by means of double-tube melting pole electroslag welding and the water-cooled copper mould which imitates rail section,and by swinging rail to achieve melting width of both sides,the arc-free processes of rail waist and rail head are very stable,and the whole section of rail can be welded stably.The impact energy and tensile properties of the rail electroslag welding can meet the impact performance requirements of the flash welded joints in the standard TB/T1632—2014,but are slightly lower than that of the flash welded joints and obviously higher than that of the aluminum welded joints.The hardness of joint weld center is slightly higher,the weld center has coarse tissue.There is a softening zone of about 2 mm in the heat affected zones of both sides.
