The Simulation of Contaminants Removal in the Constructed Wetlands

The first order kinetic model was applied to calculate the decomposing parameters of the constructed wetlands; the area rate constants of chemical oxygen demand,ammonia nitrogen,total nitrogen and total phosphorous in the HSCW were 0. 101 5 m/d,0. 029 03 m/d,0. 020 51 m/d and 0. 121 4 m/d;and the area rate constants in the IVCW were 0. 137 6 m/d,0. 061 73 m/d,0. 038 88 m/d and 0. 197 3 m/d.The area rate constants in the IVCW were higher than that in the HSCW,especially for the area rate constant of ammonia and total nitrogen. The results of simulation and the experiment showed that the contaminants removal efficiency in the IVCW was higher than that in the HSCW,especially for nitrogen and phosphorous.
