Fabrication of silver nanotube by SiO_2 assistant phase-separation method

Here we report a new approach to preparing silver metal nanotube.In this approach,tetraethyl orthosilicate containing silver ion is firstly used as precursor,and then metal silver nanoparticles are formed and congregated in porous channel of SiO2 gel through sol-gel process,followed by heat treatment to form silver nanotube.Experimental results show that some factors (i.e.content of silver in the sol,pH value and annealing temperature) have significant influence on the formation of silver.In a typical experiment,the resulted silver nanotubes have an inner diameter of about 80 nm,an outer diameter of 120 nm,and a thickness of 15~25 nm.
