Molecularly Imprinted Polymer as Stationary Phase in HPLC for the Separation and Recognition of Sulfamethoxazole

Sulfamethoxazole was used as a template for the in-situ preparation of molecular imprinted polymer(MIP) rods as stationary phases in HPLC for the separation and recognition of sulfamethoxazole and its analogues.It was found that the interactions between the MIP and target molecules were not only due to the hydrogen-bonding action but also due to hydrophobic interaction in the imprinted area.The effects of water content and flow rate on the separation were studied.Experimental results showed that the sulfamethoxazole imprinted polymer rod has specific selectivity and high affinity to sulfamethoxazole and its analogues.
