An Accurate Test of Behrens-Fisher Problem Based on Inferential Model

Liang Chengyang;Jin Hua;He Meiyi;Tan Yinbing;School of Mathematical Science, South China Normal University;
This paper uses inferential model(IM) to study the Behrens-Fisher problem, proving that the IM-based Behrens-Fisher method can totally control Type I risk well in the case of equal sample size or unequal one, while frequency method fails under unequal sample size. In the above two cases, the two methods' efficacy is close and not much different. Frequency method requires a lot of experiments over and over again, while the IM-based Behrens-Fisher method can obtain an ideal result without a large number of repeated experiments.
