Influence of Coating Layer on Double Cladding Rare Earth Doped Active Optical Fibers

Coating layer problems are seriously restricting double cladding rare earth doped active optical fibers in their transmission power and thermal damage(aging).To improve the quality of coating layer,the influences of the fiber's cooling process and coating shear force on the coating uniformity of active optical fiber were studied.An effective method of controlling the temperature of the fiber while entering into the coating cup and improvement measures of shear force reduction for the coating were presented.Through an analysis of the influences,a theoretical foundation of resolving the coating defect was obtained,which will offer reference for following processes.
