A systematic review on the effect of phlebitis caused by transfusion treated by Jinhuang powder and magnesium sulfate

[Objective] To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Jinhuang powder for phlebitis caused by transfusion. [Methods] Randomized controlled trials(RCTs) on Jinhuang powder for phlebitis caused by transfusion were searched in Pub Med, Cochrane Library, EMbase,VIP, CNKI, CBM and other electronic databases. Studies were screened according to the inclusion and exclusion criterion, and data were extracted and assessed with two researchers. Meta-analyses were performed with Rev Man 5.0.2 software. [Results] Among the 14 RCTs,970 cases were included. Meta-analyses showed Jinhuang powder could increase the tota1 effective rate [OR=9.87,95%CI(5.40, 18.04),P 0.000 01] compared with the magnesium sulfate. There were significant differences between the two groups in the curing and excellence [OR=5.47,95%CI(3.88, 7.71),P0.000 01]. [Conclusion] The present results of systematic review showed that Jinhuang powder could increase the total effective rate compared with the magnesium sulfate for phlebitis caused by transfusion, and could increase the curing and excellence. Therefore, Jinhuang powder is high curative rate, lower price, simple application and no obvious side effect in treating phlebitis caused by transfusion. It is worthy of wide application.
