Prediction and appraisal of source rocks with acidolysis hydrocarbon and headspace light hydrocarbon technologies for borehole geochemical exploration

In frontier exploration,it is a pity that most samples for conventional geochemical analysis of source rocks are from outcrops.Therefore in this paper,acidolysis hydrocarbon and headspace light hydrocarbon technologies commonly used in geochemical logging while drilling are applied to exploratory research on the horizon,abundance,type and maturity of source rocks.These technologies can not only predict hydrocarbon-bearing intervals,but also qualitatively or even quantitatively analyze source rocks through subsurface light hydrocarbons at the very first time.They are important supplementary technologies to conventional source rock analysis,playing an important role in the detailed appraisal of source rocks,the delineation of hydrocarbon systems in frontier exploration,and the determination of exploration direction,especially the selection of exploration targets.
