Effect of separate layer recovery or multilayer commingled production and the optimal selection of development methods for two-layer gas reservoirs

The effect of separate layer recovery or multilayer commingled production and the optimal selection of development methods are always difficult issues for the rational development of multi-layer gas reservoirs with aquifer.In view of this,a case study of a two-layer gas reservoir was performed by use of numerical simulation and stable state two-phase conduit flow model;then,the effects of separate layer recovery or multilayer commingled production under different produced fluids and rates are classified and compared,on the basis of which the criteria for the optimal selection of development methods is set up for the two-layer gas reservoirs.The results of this study show that as for a two-layer gas reservoir under the conditions with only gas produced,the separate layer recovery shows little impact on the long-term development of gas wells,but for the purpose of benefit,multilayer mingled production is more suitable;while as for that under the conditions with aquifer,if both two layers have similar deliverability,the multi-layer commingled production is better to choose,if not,the separate layer recovery is much more suitable.This study is helpful in the deep understanding and evaluation of the development effect of separate layer recovery or multilayer commingled production for the multilayer reservoirs,and will be guidance for the increase of development benefit and the selection of development methods for the multi-layer gas reservoirs.
