Stability analysis of the supporting structure of class Ⅵ surrounding rocks in pipeline tunnel experimental section:A case study of Dongjiang underwater tunnel of the Line Two of the West-East Gas Pipeline

For lack of relevant technical standards,the related parameters of the supporting strength of class VI surrounding rocks is usually but reluctantly determined by engineering analogy in the oil and gas pipeline tunnel project.In order to find a better method for that,we conducted a case study on the section from K0 to K0+68.00 m of the Dongjiang underwater tunnel,one part of the Line Two of the West-East Gas Pipeline.The stability of the supporting structure of the section was analyzed through on-site inspection,observation,finite element analysis,structural mechanics analysis,etc.The following results are achieved.(1) The safety factor of the selected early-support structure of the tested section can meet the requirement for the stability of relevant tunnel design specification.(2) The on-site inspection shows that neither cracking nor empty plump has been found on concrete layers of the test section,nor obvious deformation on the steel grilles.Additionally,the tunnel subsidence and surrounding convergence values can only be measured in millimeters.(3) The inspection tour shows that the construction quality of the early-support structure can meet the requirement of the specification and the surrounding rocks are of good stability on the whole.Finally a comprehensive analysis concludes that this case study can not only guide the design and construction of the class VI supporting rocks in tunnels of other oil and gas long-distance pipeline project but provide reference for the amendment of The GB50423-2007 Design Specification on Oil and Gas Transportation Pipeline Crossing Project.
