Corrosion control technology in and effects of ground production system in the high-sulfur Puguang Gas Field

Ground production facilities in high-sulfur gas fields are confronting with corrosion problems under the harsh condition of coexistence of H2S/CO2 and element sulfur,which has become the knotty in the development of such gas fields.In view of this,the case history of the Puguang Gas Field provides reference for corrosion prevention and control in the production of similar gas fields.First,laboratory simulation tests for material and inhibitor selection are used as the main measures to control corrosion cracking and weight loss of electrochemical corrosion.The integrated use of corrosion coupons,probe,electrical fingerprint monitoring,ultrasonic imaging thickness measurement,intelligent pigging detection,and the comparison of physical and chemical properties of the material before and after service are used to determine the corrosion characteristics and corrosion mechanism of the materials as well as the effect of corrosion inhibitors.These methods provide basis for corrosion control,monitoring and detection of critical parts.The application of the integrated use of corrosion control technologies shows that the present overall corrosion rate in the Puguang Gas Field is less than 0.076 mm/a,and the mechanical properties of the materials have been kept well under control without being damaged or degraded.In conclusion,the integrated use of corrosion control technologies and optimized methods will significantly mitigate the corrosion risk of high-sulfur gas fields and ensure the safe operation of the ground production system.The deposition of sulfur and gathering of formation water will result in a little bit of local corrosion,which becomes the focus of subsequent corrosion control in this field.
