Development of Natural Gas Liquefaction Process and its Available Energy Analysis

Chen Gengliang (PetroChina Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company Natural Gas Institute,Chengdu,Sichuan,610017, China)
The maximization of LNG plant is the most obvious mark in LNG production technology development. At present, technical development of domestic and overseas middle and small LNG plants has made remarkable achievements. Natural gas liquefaction needs very high energy consumption, its equipment investment accounts for a large ratio in gross investment and available energy utilization rate is less than 40% of total energy consumption. Therefore,in LNG project feasibility study or FEED,an important technical measure for reducing equipment energy consumption, size and investment is to apply available energy(Ex)analysis so as to improve thermodynamic efficient of various refrigeration processes, which is the only way for developing new processes with independent intellectual property, more attention shall be paid byrelevant departments.
