Effects of Current on the Synthesis of Al-6Ti-1C Master Alloy under Arc Action

Al-6 Ti-1 C master alloys were prepared by the arc action using industrial pure aluminum,potassium fluorotitanate and graphite powders.The microstructure and phase composition of Al-6 Ti-1 C master alloys were observed and analyzed by OM,SEM,XRD,and EDS.Then it was utilized to refine industrial pure aluminum.The results reveal that current has an important influence on the microstructure of Al-6 Ti-1 C master alloys.With the change of current,the morphology and distribution of TiAl3 particles are also changed,which controls the effect of grain refinement.With the current of 70 A,the Al-6 Ti-1 C master alloy prepared by the arc presents the desirable refining effect on industrial pure aluminum.
