Microstructures Evolution of AZ91D Magnesium Alloys under High Pressure

The effects of pressure on microstructures of AZ91 D magnesium alloys were investigated through X-ray diffraction(XRD),optical microscope(OM),field emission scanning electron microscope(FESEM)and transmission electron microscope(TEM).The results show that,AZ91 D magnesium alloys still consist ofα-Mg andβ-Mg17 Al12 phase after high pressure aging treatment.However,high pressure aging treatment can transform the morphology and distribution ofβ-Mg17 Al12 phase.Moreover,high pressure aging treatment can refine grain size significantly.
