Study on Preparation of Silica Membrane with Ultrafine Pore Size

Silica membrane with ultrafine pore size (3.0nm) was prepared on a porous support by sol-gel technique from the hydrolysis of tetraethyoxysilane (TEOS). The effects of pH, concentration of TEOS, temperature and additives on the performance of silica membrane were investigated. The permeability of pure N2, O2, CO2 and CH4 on the membrane were also measured and discussed.
