Raising the Curtain of American Revolutions on Secondary Education:The Whole Story of the Report of the Committee of Ten

Chinese Scholars have done few particular studies on the Report of the Com-mittee of Ten. Based on the historical resources,this paper firstly summarizes the establish-ment of the Committee of Ten,then reviews some related research results studied by Ameri-can scholars and finally redefines the historical contributions of the report to the evolvingprocess of secondary education during the 20 th century. The authors think that the key con-tributions of the Report are as following:(1)to bring the basic problems faced by modernsecondary schools to light;(2)to raise the curtain of American revolutions on secondary ed-ucation;(3)to bring clarity of objective and issues of the revolutions;(4)to lay the founda-tions of secondary education during the whole 20 th century;(5)to form the dynamic mecha-nisms on the revolutions of secondary education drived by professional organizations withUSA characteristics.
