DONG Renzhong;YANG Libo;Jiangsu Vocational Education Research Center;College of Computer and Information Technology,Northeast Petroleum University;
Since the establishment of federation,the vocational education and training(VET)system in Australia has gone through four important stages,from the separate devel-opment of state systems,to more involvement of the federal government,structural reform ofthe VET system and finally the neo-vocationalism reform. The Australian federal govern-ment cooperates with state and territory governments to formulate VET policies in corre-spondence with the social and economic development in each stage. Consequently,the VETsystem has shown different features in each period. Although the VET system in Australiahas a number of advantages,there are still quite a few serious issues that need to be ad-dressed by major reforms.
