RAIN ATTENUATION ON EARTH-SPACE PATH AT 12GHz—SUMMARY OF 3 YEARS EXPERIMENTS AND STUDIES

The experimental results of three years of rain attenuation measurements at 12GHz along earth-space path in Wuhan are summarized. The data obtained from a passive radiometer in last two years are analysed especially. The cumulative distributions of rain attenuation, rainfall rates, worst months, durations and the effective path lengths are given. In addition, the model for prediction of rain attenuation is also given. The results of prediction by this model show that the attenuation prediction agrees well with the measurements and is much better than those obtained by CCIR model.
