Preparation of TiO_2 Nanoforest Structure and Its Application in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

Titanium dioxide nanoforest(NF)hierarchical structure was synthesized by a simple two-step hydrothermal method to prepare the dye-sensitized solar cell(DSSC).This morphology-controlled bilayer structure was consisting of the one-dimensional TiO_2nanorod(NR)bottom arrays and the three-dimensional cauliflower-like TiO_2dendritic clusters top layer.The influences of the photoanodes and DSSCs based on the TiO_2nanoparticle(NP),TiO_2NR and hierarchical TiO_2NF structures were investigated,respectively.The experimental results show that the TiO_2nanoforest structure can improve the utilization of incident and scattered light by photoanodes and the collection and transmission rate of photogenerated carriers.This NF-based DSSC exhibits the short-circuit photocurrent density(J_(sc))of 16.31 mA·cm~(-2 )and photoelectric conversion efficiency(PCE)of 6.47%with TiCl_4post-treatment,remarkably higher than those of the DSSC based on the TiO_(2 )NP photoanode by 30.7%and 17.4%,respectively.
