Tunable Talbot Effect Based on Liquid Waveguide

Optical Talbot effect is always obtained in solid waveguides.The solid-based method has a drawback of being not adjustable,that is,there is only one specific Talbot effect once fabricated,which greatly limits the applications of the Talbot effect.In this paper,we reported a liquid trapezoidal waveguide with tunable Talbot effect,by controlling the liquid diffusion with optofluidics.Simulation results show that this liquid trapezoidal waveguide can achieve the Talbot effect analogous to its solid counterparts and the unique left/right drift of focal plane by modulating the velocities of liquids.This kind of liquid waveguide can effectively solve the problem that Talbot effect is not adjustable in traditional solid waveguide and has potential for the designs of tunable optical systems.
