Microwave hydrothermal synthesis,characterization and luminescent properties of lanthanum borate

Luminous substrate material,lanthanum borate La_2O_3·(3 ~3.5)B_2O_3·(7 ~7.5)H_2O was synthesized by microwave hydrothermal method,with borax and lanthanum nitrate hexahydrate as raw materials.The composition,structure,properties and morphology were characterized by chemical composition analysis,XRD,IR,TG-DTA and SEM.The red phosphor powder of lanthanum borate was prepared by doping Eu~(3+),and fluorescence analysis results showed that the emission intensity of the phosphor was enhanced with the increase of the doped rare-earth ions in the range of Eu~(3+) concentration from 1% to 13%;Increased water(—OH) content would lead to the fluorescence quenching;Different crystal type,good luminescent properties and color adjustable luminescence materials could be obtained by changing the calcination temperature.The phosphor can be used to coat the light emitting display and the surface of fluorescent device.
