Preparation of TiO_2 nanotubes arrays and application of enhanced boiling heat transfer

The heat transfer enhancement on different surfaces was studied.The surface of pure titanium plate was treated by anodic oxidation method,TiO_2 nanotube layers were prepared on this surface,respectively with inorganic acid solution(NH_4F and H_2SO_4) and organic neutral solution(NH_4F and glycerol) as the electrolytes.Microstructures of TiO_2 nanotubes were characterized by SEM,and static contact angle was obtained on the coatings via optical contact angle measuring device.The results showed that the nanotubes had the larger diameter and tube wall thickness by the organic neutral solution,and the surface with TiO_2 nanotubes arrays with hydrophilic properties,and contact angle decreased obviously.Compared with the untreated titanium plate in pool boiling test,the surface with TiO_2 nanotubes arrays enhanced heat transfer coefficient and critical heat flux(CHF),due to more vaporization cores.The heat transfer coefficient and the CHF of nano surface prepared by the organic neutral solution reached 10 kW/(m~2·℃) and 330 kW/m~2,increased by 66.7% and 15.8% respectively,compared with that of pure titanium plate.
