Measuring linear expansion coefficient of metal using optical fiber sensor with intensity compensation

The compensation mechanism of optical fiber displacement sensor with intensity compensation is analyzed. The displacement modulation function and corresponding simulation equation of the sensor are also confirmed by least squares method. The linear expansion coefficients of brass and aluminium are measured. The intensity compensated optical fiber displacement sensor adopting ratio operation method exhibits high sensitivity and stability. Experimental errors in traditional method are avoided, and non-contract measurement is realized.
