Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 nanopowders are synthesized through a gel-selfcombustion process, and the crystallization, density and micro-structure are studied. The results indicate that the particle size is about 40 nm, and a single perovskite phase is formed without the need of high temperature sintering. The precursor powers are then pressed into tablets and fully sintered at 1 125 ℃ for 2 h, obtaining a relative density of 98.08%, and mean particle size of 2 μm as determined by SEM.
