Color Reaction and Its Application to CPAPA with Thorium

Thorium reacts with P-actyl chorophosphionazo (CPApA) to form a 1:2 complex in 0.1 mol/ L HCl medium with an absorptiom maximum at 676nm. The apparent molar absorptivity is 7. 68 ×104 L · mol-1 · cm-1. Beer's law is obeyed for o to 55 μg ThO2 in 25 ml Solution. The method is simple and rapid.
