Study on frequency deviation expansion methods for frequency modulated crystal oscillator

CHEN Yi_xin (School of Electronic Information, Wuhan University, Wuhan 430072, China)  
A frequency deviation formula for basic frequency modulated(FM) crystal oscillator is given. And the three frequency deviation expansion methods:π type network, inductance in series, inductance in parallel;are discussed in detail. Three methods all can raise modulation sensitivity validly but also influence Q value of circuits. The analytical method of inductance in series has been derived by simplied π network. The inductance in series method has been widely used in various modern communication equipments.
