Design of a novel AC coupled burst mode limited amplifier

A novel AC coupled limited amplifier with different coupling time constants is proposed.The small time constant is applied to the normal burst mode packet and the large time constant is applied to packets with a succession of "1" or "0".The threshold voltages for the large signal and small signal can be decided exactly;so meet the need of the burst mode receiver of EPON(Ethernet passive optical networks).The sensitivity and dynamic range of a 1.25Gb/s EPON receiver is greatly improved by applying this technology.
