Impact of TEG applications on economic performance of HEV

The vehicular waste-heat thermoelectric generator(TEG)is a new device which can directly convert automobile exhausted waste-heat into electric energy;now advances in material technology have made it possible to apply the TEG to motor vehicles.To analyze the impact of the TEG applications on fuel economy of the vehicle,we established the Simulink sub-model of the thermoelectric generator system according to the theory of thermoelectricity;and continued to set up the backward simulation model of the parallel hybrid electric vehicle on the ADVISOR platform.And also,we established several other TEG models with different configuration referring to the laboratory physical prototypes.Running the computational procedure and finally proposed a concept of TEG power density after analyzing the experimental data.All these works lead to a final revelation of relationship between TEG configuration and automobile fuel economy,so as to provide a theory support for developing a more effective HEV based on the TEG system.
