Investigation on oxidation behavior of Super304H steel in water vapor temperature of 700℃

To investigate water vapor oxidation behavior of Super304H steel,the oxidation test on the asreceived Super304H steel was conducted at 700℃for 5to 8hours.Scanning electron microscope(SEM)and energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS)were employed to observe the microstructure and compositions of the oxide layer.In addition,distributions of O,Cr,Fe,Ni,Cu along the cross-section of the oxide layer also have been revealed by element mapping technique and phases have been identified by X-ray diffraction(XRD).The results show that the oxidation layer is a double-layer structure consisting of an porous outer layer rich in Cr,Ni and an dense inner layer rich in Fe.The interface between the inner layer and outer layer is the original surface and a protective layer Cr_2O_3 have been formed between substrate and oxide layer.Based on the XRD pattern,the outer layer consists of Fe_2O_3,Fe_3O_4 while the inner layer consists of Cr_2O_3,and NiO.
