PROPAGATION OF HEPATITIS A VIRUS IN STABLE CELL LINE (MERN) IN VITRO

The stable cell line (MERN) origina-ted from human embryonic kidney was in-fected with hepatitis A virus (HAV) isola-tes TO86 and TO85. Multi plication andidentity of HAV in the cell cultures weredemonstrated with the procedures of im-mune electron microscopy, radioimmunoas-say and immune adherence. A "capsule"containing a numerous HAV particks wasdiscovered in the infected cell culture at thethird passage by procedure of immune elec-tron microscopy with negative staining. Thepossible role of the "HAV-capsule" in thepropagation of HAV was discussed.
