A Design and Simulation Method of Non-GEO Satellite Constellation for Regional Coverage with STK

In this paper,we study the design of constellation with continuous coverage for ground target.First,we analyze the relation of minimum elevation of constellation with sub-satellite track and orbit altitude;then we derive the calculation equation of intersatellite coverage interval time and orbit plane interval time which mainly influence the covering performance;finally we propose the optimized design method of constellation based on the combination of theoretical algorithm with STK simulation and present the concrete constellation scheme for China.The simulation results indicate that this constellation is able to implement uninterrupted coverage for 24 hours for China.
