A Study on the Intertextual Translation of Chinese Classics from Fusion of Horizons

According to Gadame's philosophical hermeneutics, translation is based on prejudice and dialogue, which function dynamically towards the fusion of horizons. This paper works on the translation of an intertextual poem quoted in The Sequel to the Classic of Tea. From the analysis of the rendering and revising process, the author intends to point out that classics translation differs from the general text translation in that it contains at least one more set of horizon, as Chinese classical texts share a special feature of quoting from a lot of inter-texts. So the horizon of the intertext and its author plays an equally important role in the course of a harmonious fusion forming.
