Roles of Rho GTPase in signaling transduction and cytoskeleton

YAO Zhihong,TANG Shengsong (Institute of Pharmacy and Pharmacology,University of South China,Hengyang Hunan 421001,China)
Rho GTPases control many features of cell behavior. They play a pivotal role in regulating actin cytoskeletal organization, cell adhesive interactions, cell migration, vesicle trafficking, transcriptional activity, gene expression and cell cycle progression.Aberrant Rho signaling is resulted from alterations in the levels of Rho GTPase proteins, the status of activation, and the abundance of effector proteins.Alterations of Rho signaling particularly impact on the cytoskeleton reorganization to underpin the motility of cells.Regulation of the biological signaling pathway is complex and therefore,Rho GTPases in recent years have became the hotspot.
