Caveolae and insulin resistance

Caveolae is a kind of specific capsular structural lipid raft located in plasma membrane which riches in cholesterol and sphingolipid.Recently,some reports indicated that there is a close relationship between its specific protein caveolins and insulin resistance.Caveolins regulate insulin sensitivity by interacting with the insulin receptor,participating in glucose and fat metabolism,and may be it's a new treatment site of diabetes.
