XU Shengmei,MA Hongmei,GUO Dong(Department of Pathology,Affiliated Futian Hospital of Guangdong Medical College,Shenzhen 518033,China)
Objective To investigate the relation between the invasion and metastasis of colorectal carcinoma and the expression of E-cadherin.Methods The immunohistochemistry method and the in situ hybridization method were used to detect the expression of E-cadherin in normal colorectal mucosa, colorectal adenomas, and colorectal carcinomas tissues. Results The positive rate of mRNA and protein of E-cadherin in colorectal carcinoma were lower than that of normal colorectal mucosa and adenomas tissues (P0.01);the positive rate of E-cadherin were decreased concomitantly with decrease in differentiation of CRC and the increase in Dukes stages;the positive rate of E-cadherin in colorectal carcinoma of the metastasis of lymph node and distant organ was lower than that of the negative ones(P0.01,P0.05).Conclusion The decrease and absence of E-cadherin play an important role in the invasion and metastasis of colorectal carcinoma.
