Objective To determine the expression and clinical significance of Annexin A7 in gastric cancer and lymphatic metastasis. Methods SP immunhistochemical stain was used to examine the expression of Annexin A7 in normal gastric mucosa(n=20),gastric cancer tissue(n=60),and lymphatic metastasis from gastric cancer(n=30).The correlation between Annexin A7 expression and the type of gastric cancer or the degree of tumor differentiation was compared. Results The positive percentage of Annexin A7 expression in cancer tissues was 53.3%,which was significantly higher than that(25.0%) in normal samples(P 0.05) while significantly lower than that(76.7%) in lymphatic metastasis(P0.01).The positive percentage of Annexin A7 in tubular adenocarcinoma, mucinous adenocarcinoma, and signet-ring cell carcinoma were 63.6%,27.5%,and 20.0%,respectively.There was a significant difference between tubular adenocarcinoma and mucinous adenocarcinoma(P0.05).Gender,age,size of tumor, stage of tumor or the degree of tumor differentiation did not show significant impact on Annexin A7 expression(P0.05).Conclusion The overexpression of Annexin A7 may play important roles in the development and metastasis of gastric cancer. The expression of Annexin A7 in tubular adenocarcinoma is higher than that in mucinous adenocarcinoma.
