The S100 protein family comprises at least 25 members and participates in regulating a large variety of intracellular activities.Recently,it has been shown that some S100 proteins are released by a non-classical pathway and exert regulatory role by interacting with RAGE.The interactions between S100 and RAGE might play an important role in the development of inflammatory and tumor processes.
