Progress in the role of miRNA in regulation of P gp expression in tumor cells

MiRNAs are a class of highly conserved single stranded non coding RNAs, which can target mRNA and bind with mRNA 3' UTR to inhibit the translation of mRNA and to promote the degradation of target genes. The regulatory mechanism of miRNA is closely related to P gp expression in many tumor cells. P glycoprotein(P gp) is a transmembrane protein, which can lead to multidrug resistance(MDR) if overexpressed. MDR is a major obstacle to successful chemotherapy in cancer. h is review will introduce the biological characteristics of miRNA and the function of P gp, and the mechanism of miRNA in regulation of P gp expression will be highlighted.
