Sphingosine-1-phosphate is one of the important components of a biologically active membrane and sphingolipid metabolites. It is important signaling molecules which regulates many biological functions in intracellular and extracellular.S1P combining with five kinds of G protein-coupled receptor subtypes(S1PR1-S1PR5) have different biological functions, including the regulation of cell proliferation, survival, apoptosis, inflammation and angiogenesis.Recent studies show that S1P and S1PR/SPHK play the important role in the development of lung disease, especially in bronchial asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, pneumonia, bronchiectasis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) and lung cancer. These studies may provide a new approach for the treatment of lung diseases.
