A STUDY OF FAULT ACTIVITIES IN THE QINHUANGDAO CITY BY MEANS OF SEM

In recent years, fault activities have been studied by using a gouge scanning electron microscope ( SEM ) .This problem has attracted much attention of the earthquake geologists and the engineering geologists at home and abroad. According to the study of the structural characteristics of SEM on quartz grain surface in the faultflucan.the active period and the active characteristics of the fault zone were approached. The research results were basically with these of the field investigation, the spot instrumental determination, and the remote sensing pictorial display. The microcosmic results affords the basis for the study of the fault activities in the urban districts. This method is of very important practical value to engineering geology.
