Investigation of the Rotating Stall on Isolated Rotor of an Axial Flow Compressor

With the help of hot-wire and pressure pick-up,experiments are conducted on isolated rotor of an axial flow compressor to investigate the rotating stall pheno- menon.The overall characteristics are observed to be of discontinuous type.The propagation velocity of stall,the number of stall cell as well as the pulsation of velocity and pressure are observed,recorded and measured.Some surging phenomena of the whole system are also observed. On the basis of the theoretical analysis of the article“The Problem of Rota- ting Stall in Cascades of Axial Compressor”[10] some developments are made in this paper on the established relations among the tangential velocity,axial velo- city ratio and propagation velocity of rotating stall. Experimental results are compared with the theoretical analysis in article[10] and this article.The viewpoints in the two articles are verified in a preliminary manner.
