Experimental Study on Strength of Exterior Joints of Frame

In order to examine the shear strength of exterior joints in the R.C. frame,10 reinforced concrete beam-column joints speciments,including 4 interior joints,4 conventional exterior joints and 2 exterior joints with stub beam,have been tested.Four photoelastic experiments of exterior joints also have been conducted.On the basis of these tests,the recommendation for calculation of exterior joints is presented. The results of tests verified that the shear strength of exterior joints with stub beam is greater than that of conventional exterior joints. Adoption of exterior joints with stub beam is recommended
