On the Issues between the Theory of Civilizational Interaction and Studies of Universal History

PENG Shu zhi (Institute of Middle East Studies, Northwest University, Xi′an 710069, China)
Middle East region is the creative civilizational center in ancient world history. From the studies on this creative civilizational center and on the universal history of middle east states, some conclusions can be drawn: 1. Civilizational interaction among the different civilizations runs through whole history of the middle east region. 2. The important function of Civilizational interaction is the spiritual influence. 3. The openness, consciousness and initiative are the primitive motive forces of civilizational interaction. 4. The nativeness of civilization is the key role in the process of interaction. The Syrian civilizational center in a broad sense presents further importance that trade interaction, bilateral influence also play the key function in the civilizational interaction. After disintegration of the ancient Syrian and Hellenistic civilization, the Christian and Islamic civilization emerged, developed, spread from Syrian region and interacted with different civilizations.
