Simulated Forming and Quality Assessment in Design of Cutting Membrane Structures

The process of the design of membrane structures was developed by presenting concept of simulated forming,which was based on nonlinear finite element method.Simulated forming meant all the plane pieces of membrane material which were cut corresponding to the designed initial equilibrium state were sewed again.Meanwhile,the stress distribution of the cutting membrane structure was obtained,by which the quality of cutting diaphragm could be tested.Finally,the simulated forming analyses for common HP-type and umbrella-type membrane structures were carried out,and three factors,such as rise-span ratio,cutting width and cutting direction of the structures,which affected cutting quality were considered.The conclusion can provide a reference for design of cutting membrane structures.
