Experiment on Flexural Stiffness of Reinforced Concrete Beams with HRB500 Reinforcement Bars

In order to study the calculation method of stiffness of high-strength reinforced concrete beam,the bending behavior of reinforced concrete beams with HRB500 reinforcement bars were analyzed based on the tests of 15 flexural reinforced concrete beams with HRB500 reinforced concrete and 2 reinforced concrete beams with HRB335 reinforcement bars.The result shows that the normal section of the simply supported beam with HRB500 reinforcement bars accords with the plane section assumption;the measured deflection in relative error is about 6% which is larger than the calculated deflection.According to the tests and some experimental data of high-strength reinforcement bars beams,a modified formula which was suited for reinforced concrete beams with HRB500 reinforcement bars was proposed.The new calculation method is more accurate to mid-span deflection of beams with HRB500 reinforcement bars.
