Xue Dengmin Liu Andian Zhang Qiongyao Wang Shite (Department o/ Veterinary Science)Zhang Xiaoliang(The Institute o/ Plant Protection, Shaanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences')
Entomophthora fresenii (E.f.) is an epidemic pathogen in cotton aphid and other aphides. In this Stuay, some experiments on the safety of the E.f-258 used in the field were performed so as to provide basis for its application and extension. In order to induce the acute, subacute and chronic infection of the E.f-258, different dosages of the E.f spore were given in various ways to mouse, guinea pig and chicks respectively. The results are as follows- (1) No clinical symptoms in the animals tested were observed; (2) The differences in the weight gain, red and white blood cell number before and after the tests were not significant(P^0.05) ? and (3)No abnormal changes in all the tissues of the animals tested were observed by means of the pathological histology and the scanning electron microscope. These observations suggest that the E,f-258 be safe for the mammal and poultry.
